Beyonce Knowles, always fit and always fabulous, gave some diet advice to the readers of SELF Magazine. She trains five days a week, dances nine hours a day in stilettos and does hundreds of squats and lunges to tone those famous legs. It would make sense if her diet was as strict as her exercise regimen! Surprisingly–it’s not. Read on for the singer’s top four healthy eating tips.
Eat often.
Despite her jam-packed schedule, Beyonce eats five or six meals a day–even if her assistant has to remind her! But being busy lets her keep her cravings in check. “If I’m sitting around at home, I’m not going to want the 100-calorie Oreos,” she told SELF. “I’m going to want the real Oreos and milk. Staying busy…I have more discipline.”
Let yourself splurge.
“Comfort food helps,” the singer told us. “I allow myself one bad meal every week. Yesterday, I had pizza and wine. There’s too much good out there to never indulge.” Giving into a craving can make you feel better, letting it get out of hand will make you feel worse. Indulge yourself in moderation!
Spice up a routine diet.
Beyonce’s daily meal plan includes lots of chicken and fish, which anyone can get sick of after awhile. For flavor, she adds a little ketchup and hot sauce. Her original Sasha Salad (lettuce, tomato, avocado, jalapenos and chicken breast) always gets the oil and vinegar treatment. “It’s really delicious because it tastes like it’s not very good for you,” she said.
Find your own happy weight.
In the past, Beyonce’s acting career has her weight to yo-yo-in 2006, she lost 15 pounds to play Deena Jones in Dreamgirls, then gained that plus another 15 back two years later to play Etta James in Cadillac Records. “I feel best when I’m not really thin and not really heavy, when I’m still curvy,” she told SELF. “I really believe that everyone is supposed to be different, and whatever is a natural weight for you is usually what looks best.”
